ADULT  YORKSHIRE TERRIER
DESCRIPTION: Yorkshire Terriers
are intelligent, spirited and alert.
Patient training and early
socialization will reduce the
Yorkshire Terrier's timidity and
snipping. It is one of the world's
smallest dogs, it is very
affectionate and is always willing
to please.


COLORS / COAT: Yorkshire
Terriers are typically blue, black,
or tan. The AKC recognizes Black
& Tan, Blue & Gold, Blue & Tan, or
Black & Gold.
Their hair is long and silky. It
requires daily grooming  to keep
it's coat clean and free of tangles.
The coat may be keep clipped
short to make grooming easier.


Height: Yorkshire Terriers range
from eight inches to nine inches.


Weight: Tea Cup:  up to four
pounds
Toy: four to six pounds
Standard: six to ten pounds


TEMPERAMENT: The "Yorkie" can
be timid around strangers and
does not like ruff treatment. It is
very affectionate with its owners
and loves to be held. It should do
well with other pets. He thinks he
is a great big dog in a small
package and will try to prove it.

Premature disease is common in
Yorkshire Terriers. Therefor it is
important that it's teeth be keep
clean and it have regular dental
care. The  are also pron for eye
irritations, tracheal collapse and
patella lunation (slipping kneecap).

LIFE EXPECTANCY:  The expected
life of the Yorkshire Terrier is
fourteen to sixteen years.

ENVIRONMENT: Yorkshire Terriers
are less active that many other
breeds. A walk each day will
provide ample exercise for this
affectionate pet. It makes an
excellent choice for the apartment
dweller.
